Title
Correspondence from D. Morris to T. Milliken
Description

Correspondence from Dave Morris (superintendent, Methodist Church of Australia, Elcho Island, via Darwin, NT) (29/10/1969) to Mr E.P. Milliken (Assistant Director of Research, Welfare Branch, NT Administration) in answer to Milliken's letter re: Miss D. Halley. Prior to Sheppie's departure, the matter was discussed and it was felt that because of certain behaviour on the part of Miss Halley that it was not desirable for her to return to Elcho Island. Regarding the accommodation, none of the staff are prepared to board her and they don't wish to give her single accommodation because of her earlier behaviour. They are also concerned about the number of surveys that have been conducted lately and the burden this puts on the staff and Aboriginal people. These problems could be overcome though if another research worker could be nominated. The situation would be impossible if Miss Halley came out here again because of the complaints made against her. Also this is the first time that Elcho Island has refused admission to anyone for work of this type.
