- Correspondence D. Halley to R.L. Kirk
- Description
Correspondence from Miss D.E. Halley to R.L. Kirk (14/11/1969) from Elcho Island. She says that Dr Langsford, Mr Milliken, Mr Giese and Reverend Symons have been very generous with their cooperation but that the superintendent has told her that he was distressed when his decision to refuse her entry to the Island was overturned. She has had some rather rigid restrictions for her movements listed. She is currently working in the hospital with an excellent Aboriginal informant and an Aboriginal spokesman and they are detailing each family or kinship. Halley also hopes to record tongue spots and hair whorls while there. Dr Langsford and Mr Milliken have told her that she should have less difficulty working at Yirrkala and Milingimbi when accommodation is available.
