Description: This file contains correspondence between R.L. Kirk and R.L. Doherty, Director of Queensland Institute of Medical Research, in which they make arrangements for Jeanette Best to supply Kirk with blood samples from Mitchell River, Cape York. Kirk is keen to examine selected blood groups, serum proteins and red cell enzyme systems. There is a list of the 12 individuals who supplied blood samples, giving their name, tribal affiliation, sex, date of birth and place of birth. There is also correspondence between R.L. Kirk and Dr John Taylor, Department of Behavioural Systems, James Cook University, Queensland, in which Taylor supplies Kirk with extensive genealogical information and maps of family relationships of 11 different Kowanyama families.
