Summary
Sue Serjeantson became the Head of the Department of Human Genetics at the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR), Canberra in 1987, after Bob Kirk retired. She then became custodian of the Indigenous biospecimens held in the JCSMR from 1987 to 1994, and oversaw the collection of blood samples from Groote Eylandt in the early 1990s. Her research interests included: human leukocyte antigens, and the genetic basis of diseases such as juvenile and mature onset diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus and leprosy.
